Desk file · 2026 edition · record confidence: medium

ThinkMarkets

We opened the file on ThinkMarkets the way we open every file: register first, marketing never. Trading since 2010, run out of Melbourne, Australia, and carrying 4 licence entries on the public record, 2 of them tier-1.

EUR/USD not verified pips · cost per 10 lots $not verified · minimum deposit None · leverage cap 1:30 retail under ASIC/FCA/CySEC; higher under offshore entities

Measured

What the two desk scores say

Both are out of 10 and both are computed, not felt.

Cost scorePriced off the spread basis below, not off a headline rate card.not verified
Safety scoreWeighted on licence tier and on how many of the entries we could re-read at source.not verified
Cost per 10 lotsTen round-turn EUR/USD lots priced at the spread basis, commission excluded.$not verified

Spread basis. . Nothing on this page is a live quote; a spread printed on a Tuesday afternoon is not the spread you get thirty seconds after a non-farm payroll release.

On the record

What we were able to confirm

Confirmed at source

  1. ThinkMarkets states it holds 10 licences globally, including ASIC, FCA, CySEC, FSCA, CIMA and the Seychelles FSA.
  2. The Australian entity advertises no minimum deposit, segregated client money and negative balance protection in line with ASIC rules.
  3. The broker advertises access to up to 4,000 instruments at group level and 2,000 for Australian clients.
  4. Established in 2010, with offices listed in Australia, Asia, Europe, the UK, UAE and South Africa.
  5. In February 2022 ThinkMarkets announced the closing of a US$40 million funding package comprising a US$10 million pre-IPO convertible equity investment (supported by existing shareholder Regal Funds Management, with Chardan as lead financial advisor) and a US$30 million senior secured debt facility from Mars Growth, a Liquidity Group-MUFG joint venture fund, introduced by Singapore-based ARC Investments (announcement dated 11 February 2022, republished by Liquidity Group's LiquidityFinder news page, https://liquidityfinder.com/news/thinkmarkets-closes-40-million-funding-from-institutional-investors-14wb5).

Not verified

The following could not be traced to a primary source at the time of filing. We publish the gap rather than a number that would look tidier:

  • Seychelles FSA licence number
  • CIMA and FSCA licence numbers
  • typical EUR/USD spread on the ThinkZero account
  • typical EUR/USD spread (source only gave an advertised 'from 0.0' raw-account figure)

Other records open on the desk

CFDs are complex instruments with a high risk of losing money rapidly due to leverage. A desk file is a record of what the public register said on the day we read it, not a recommendation to open an account.
